WHILE the world's athletes prepare to compete for gold in London, a nursery in Sticklepath has collected another gold medal at a RHS show.
Bowden Hostas took a gold medal at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show in Cheshire for their hosta marquee. The win takes their haul of gold medals this summer to six.
The nursery struck gold twice at the 2012 RHS Chelsea Flower Show — they also took two golds at Gardening Scotland and one at the recent BBC Gardener's World Show. The nursery has also been awarded a Royal Warrant to the Prince of Wales.
Tim Penrose, who runs the nursery with his wife Ruth, said: 'We've had a busy season on the road, and it's been every bit as successful as we'd hoped it would be.
'Bowden is a name that's now synonymous with the finest hostas in the land. But we're not going to be stopping there.
'We always said we wanted to help revolutionise the industry. And there's one more promise I can already make — the best is yet to come.'
Mr Penrose used the show to launch the company's newest recyclable carrier bags, each emblazoned with his personal mobile telephone number should the customer require further information on their plants or the nursery.
He said: 'Our promise has been customer service like you've never known it before.
'We've carried that message wherever we've exhibited this summer, and will continue to shout it from the rooftops of our nursery.'
