THIS may not be the time of year when thoughts are on energy bills and insulation, but energy saving group Transition Tavistock has said the time has never been better to get around to insulating lofts, getting it topped up or insulating cavity walls. The Cosy Devon group has just been launched and offers free loft insulation and cavity wall insulation to private householders — owners, landlords and tenants — across Devon and free loft top ups to householders in areas designated as low income. In other areas loft top ups will cost £149. There is also the chance for a free boiler repair or replacement for private householders in receipt of certain benefits and a contribution to the costs of external wall insulation may also be possible for certain privately-owned properties. Transition Tavistock is working with the Cosy Devon Partnership (Devon local authorities and EON) to help as many householders as possible take advantage of this free and reduced cost offer. Transition Tavistock's Energy Savers programme can provide a free energy check, support and advice and support through the process. Register interest in Cosy Devon through [email protected]">[email protected] or calling 07969 569444 with your name, contact details and postcode. As a voluntary community group Transition Tavistock will earn a small fee for each completed measure. This will help the group to further its support in the community. Energy Savers will also be holding an Open Homes weekend on Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14, where people can visit homes which have invested in energy reducing and generating measures. An Energy Savers Eco Fair will also be held on Saturday, September 20 at Tavistock College.
