Tavistock 4

Wadebridge 0

THE Lambs continued in striking form from the previous cup game with a second half display to destroy the visitors.

Tavistock had the majority of play in the opening period with Nathan Blamey's shot just going wide of the post after 15 minutes, but it took until the 35th minute before they opened their account.

A weak clearance by keeper Pete Dingle allowed Mark Wall to put Jason Carwardine in to slide the ball past the keeper.

The turning point came in the second minute after the interval. The Bridgers had a corner that was scrambled away and the Lambs broke quickly out of defence. Rob Hawkins cut in from the right with a left foot angled drive for his first league goal to put them two up.

Eight minutes later the game was as good as over when Darren Babb headed powerfully home via the underside of the crossbar from a Carwardine free kick.

The Lambs defence was rarely troubled but Parkyn should have done better when he blasted over from close range with 15 minutes remaining.

Tavistock completed the evening on the stroke of full-time when substitute Jaimie Carwardine half volleyed home after a great deal of approach play - it was goodnight to the Bridgers and a very good night for the Lambs.

'A tremendous performance by the team - the second goal completely destroyed them,' was joint manager Chris Abbott's comment after the game.
