MAY we through your paper say how sorry we were to hear that Mr Douglas Parkhouse, the superintendent of Tavistock Cemetery, has left after twelve and a half years.
We are very grateful for what he did for the town's cemetery, it was always pleasant to go there and see such a polite and helpful person.
The place was so organised and with a high standard of work. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He did so much for the people in need and was there day, weekends, nights and over Christmas if we needed help about our loved ones, for the graves and head stones.
We came in a lot. It was lovely to see him working all weathers, often on his own, digging graves or attending the grounds to make them look so nice.
He was a credit to the town and his bosses. It was an honour to have been able to know him. We wish him and his family good luck in his new job and new home.
