A COUPLE from North Tawton recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by enjoying a week’s worth of fun, laughs and adventure.
Roy and Lin Ford, who ran the Linfords shop in the town from 1981 until 2010, celebrated their joyous occasion by taking day trips around Devon.
The couple moved to North Tawton from Winkleigh just after they got married 50 years ago and together they started up Linfords — the shop that was like an Aladdin’s cave and sold practically everything from clothing to cleaning products.
Mr and Mrs Ford ran the shop for 29 years before they retired. However, being the type of people who like to be active, they now run the Sunday Hatherleigh car boot sale and have been doing so for the last 18 months.
The couple celebrated by enjoying a host of activities and trips, they went bowling, took a trip to Dawlish Warren, visited Dartmoor Zoo, went to Boscastle, had fun in Bude and rounded off the week by having a family barbecue.
Roy and Lin have two children, Annette and Nic, and also have two grandchildren, Holly and Marnie.
Their daughter Annette Ponsford said: ‘They are truly amazing parents that always find time for everyone else and I know that they will make fantastic great-grandparents in November.
‘Mum and Dad are always on hand to give sound advice and support. I love them both dearly.’
