Tavistock Town . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .1
Tavistock Thistles U15 . . . . . . . . . . .1
THISTLES earned a creditable point from their last match of a very good sesason against local rivals Tavistock Town. Both teams settled quickly with Thistles just shading the early exchanges.
The game was being contested at a good pace by two evenly matched teams but it was Town who took the lead through Backaller whose clinical finish gave them a 1-0 lead midway through the half.
Town were now enjoying a good spell but found it hard to break down an organised Thistles defence with Joseph Busuttil outstanding.
Thistles began to get back into their stride and equalised when Steven Lake won possession and broke out of defence before releasing Adam Stephens with a superb through ball. Adam Stephens finished in style to make it all square at 1-1. The second half was an end to end affair but strong defences held firm and restricted clear cut opportunities. The match was played in a very good spirit and was well refereed by Mark Wallace.
This match was tinged with sadness however, as Thistles' coach/manager, Colin Bunney, has decided to leave due to other commitments.
The team would like to thank him for all his efforts and help during the last two years which has seen the team improve beyond measure.
If anyone would be able to help by offering to coach or manage this very committed and loyal team, please contact Nicola Busuttil on 01822 616220.
