Tavistock RFC 3
Bideford 3
TAVISTOCK will see this as a point lost and not a point gained after the scrappy match at Sandy Park on Saturday.
The first half saw Tavistock with the lions? share of possession and as a result of this possession they were camped in the Bideford half for most of the first period but because of some bad decision making and poor handling they were unable to convert the supremacy into points.
Tavistock forwards dominated both the scrum and lineout but on a number of occasions either took the ball on too far, or lost the ball in contact allowing Bideford to clear their lines.
The closest Tavistock came to scoring a try was when wing Richard Huish lost the ball as he was crossing the line and about to score.
Fly half Josh Sutton opened the Tavistock account with a penalty goal minutes into the second half but Bideford responded almost immediately with a penalty, converted by Paul Limbrick.
Infringements from both sides began to dominate the game and referee Bob Freeman warned both captains that any further transgressions for handling or offside at the ruck would result in players being sent to the sin bin. Neither side heeded the warning and both Tavistock and Bideford had two players sinbinned for further offences.
As the game drew to its conclusion both Tavistock and Bideford had chances to seal the win with long range penalty goal attempts but neither side was able to grab the spoils.
