TAVISTOCK Meadows will not play host to a circus during carnival week next month as was previously anticipated.

Gerry Cottle's Circus had expressed an interest to the town council to hold the circus in the Meadows on July 13, 14 and 15, but the site has already been booked for another event on Sunday July 15.

The circus had to make alternative arrangements with another local authority in Cornwall and so regrettably withdrew its interest, but hopes to submit an application to hold the circus in the town next year.
