Okehampton Argyle 3
Pinhoe 3
WHAT looked to be an easy task for Okehampton, taking on lowly Pinhoe, turned out to be an exciting and entertaining match.
This included a two-minute uninvited appearance by a Yorkshire terrier, who put on an amazing ?dribbling? display before being shown a red card and led away by an apologetic owner.
Early pressure from Pinhoe was rewarded when in the ninth minute a high ball down the middle caught Argyle?s defence flat-footed. Jamie Norman shot home from close range.
Argyle pushed forward for an equaliser, but efforts from Adam Mortimer and Robbie Sandercock went wide and a possible penalty appeal for a foul on Paul Yip was waved away by the referee.
Ten minutes before half time
Argyle?s defence was again split open, when an attack down the right flank by Mark Symons saw his pin-point cross easily side-footed into the net by Tony Kyle.
A lifeline was thrown to Argyle just before half-time when a jinking run by Sandercock saw him fouled just inside the penalty box. Stuart Cann stepped up to send the Pinhoe keeper the wrong way with his spot kick.
The second half continued with both side creating chances, but it was Pinhoe who came closest when Kyle hit an upright from an acute angle.
Okehampton made a double substitution with 20 minutes to go with Mark Burdus and Danny Maddax coming on for Cann and Dearing. But this seemed to backfire because minutes later Paul Tricker and Dave Moyes combined well for Pinhoe and Moyes stroked in their third.
With time running out Argyle made a final substitution, Nick Drew for Steve Williams and this time it paid off. A free kick from Drew saw Mike Vernon head Argyle?s second goal.
Two minutes later defender Vernon headed in another cross from Drew to level the scores.
Okehampton could have sneaked the winner, when first Sandercock for Argyle lobbed the keeper who had come well off his goalline, only to see a defender make a last ditch clearance.
This week Argyle face a harder test, when they take on Seaton Town at home for a rearranged fixture, kick-off 3pm.

Budleigh Salterton 6
Hatherleigh Town 0
AFTER some decent performances of late Hatherleigh crashed back down to earth with a bump.
All eleven players played so poorly one would think it was their first game together.
The performance was so bad that it could have been worse than 6-0.
The team hopes this game was a one-off and performances will get better all round.
This week sees a home match against St Martins.
