THE ladies' club championships at Yelverton Golf Club were held early this month.

The weather was not pleasant for the players and made for difficult playing conditions which resulted in a reduction only competition.

This competition is a 36 hole competition played on one day and there were two trophies to play for - a scratch a nett.

The scratch competition was won by Gilly Jarvis with a combined gross score of 161. Gilly has won this trophy for nine years in succession. She is hoping to beat the record of the late Bunty Salz who held the title for 11 years running.

The nett competition was won by Elizabeth Calder with a combined net score of 160. This was Elizabeth's first attempt to play in the championships and she was delighted to have been successful.
