the Okement Rivers Improvement Group on Saturday cleared the Mill Leat in Okehampton of a large amount of litter and objects that had been fly-tipped. Nine bin bags of rubbish were collected and a Transit van was filled with metal, plastic and concrete. County Cllr Christine Marsh, a member of the group, said: 'It is sad to see this amount of litter being left by people. I would like to thank all those volunteers who helped — they ranged from ladies in their senior years to strong able-bodied men. Thank you all.'
