A WEST Devon woman pushed her body to the limits to take part in her first triathalon recently.
Nicky Deane-Simmons, one of the complementary therapists from the Tavistock Triangle Centre, took part in the Ironman triathalon competition in Austria.
The competition consists of a 2.4 mile open water swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and then a 26.2 mile run.
Having started the race at 7am, Nicky finished just after 8pm, completing the course in 13 hours and three minutes.
Nicky did the Ironman triathalon to raise money for the Tavistock Triangle Centre — a drop in centre for cancer patients and their carers.
Open on a Friday, it is a service that supplies free information on cancer related issues, support and complementary therapies. The drop-in centre is located weekly at the Tavistock Health Centre, no appointments or referrals are necessary.
Many local people bought guesses at Nicky's finishing time, which raised around £300 towards the charity.
