MOORLAND Birds WI is the name chosen by 17 enthusiastic ladies at the formation meeting for the new WI serving the area around Yelverton and Crapstone.

Karine and Wendy came to speak about the charity Rahab which reaches out to sex workers in Plymouth, offering them support with basic life skills such as form filling, and trying to build some sense of self-worth. Rahab offers  hope to these women who often have a long history of rejection and abuse, and ultimately encourages them to exit prostitution.

The new WI will meet on the first Tuesday of the month. The next meeting on November 6 at 7.30pm in Blue Button workshop, Axtown Lane, will be a hands-on lino-cut workshop to make Christmas cards. Those wanting to join in should contact Kate on 01822 855 539 to find out what to bring.
