THE Okehampton and District Chamber of Trade had much to celebrate at its latest meeting on Thursday, when it used the occasion to launch a new website for the town. The chamber has launched http://www.okehamptondevon.com">www.okehamptondevon.com which it says will be a great boost to the whole community. The website is designed by chamber member Anthony Martin, who was given a remit by the committee ?to provide a website that gave a full picture of Okehampton.? Ian Bailey, the chamber chairman, said: ?We wanted a website that not only showed the accommodation providers but also showed what services are available here. Mr Bailey said the chamber was eager to get the site known and is advertising it on street banners and car stickers. He said: ?We want this site to be high on Google search when everyone looks for Okehampton but this will take a few weeks to achieve.? Web designer Anthony Martin said: ?The site is very new and will improve as the weeks go by.? Nigel Stocks from Lloyds TSB, who sponsored the evening, said: ?We wish this site every success.? Earlier in the evening Terry Falcao from Stones solicitors gave the chamber an update on new employment legislation in the workplace. He explained new and forthcoming legislation and took questions from the floor.
