The Friends of Okehampton Community Hospital are branching out into new fields with a meeting on Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. Martin Perry, Friends chairman, said the group would continue with its usual fundraising events, but members, in conversation with patients and the public, had noticed the apparent increase in the problems of senile dementia and Alzheimer's. 'We are particularly fortunate to have the National Treasurer of the Alzheimer's Society, Charles Watton, living locally and he has agreed to attend a meeting and speak on the latest developments,' said Mr Perry. The group will meet in Exeter Arms in Okehampton on March 12 at 7.30 pm — all welcome. If there is sufficient interest more meetings on different health issues will be held. The next fundraiser will be a coffee morning in the new hall at Bridestowe on March 15 from 10am.
