DJM Raleigh League U14?s
Morley Rangers . . . . . . . . . . 5
Tavistock Thistles . . . . . . . . . 0
THIS match saw the debut of two new Thistles players Lewis Burden and James Day- Cocking, both of whom showed a lot of promise.
With teams of equal strength and ability neither was able to gain the upper hand until the closing minutes of the first half.
Despite brave defending from Patrick Dobbie, Sam Burnett and David Gibbings, Rangers were able to open the scoring with a long range shot past goalkeeper Mark Smerdon and a further goal just before the half time whistle.
The second half saw renewed determination from Thistles with the midfield of Alex Lowe, Matthew Roberts and Sam Brookes providing passes for the forwards to run onto.
A period of Thistles pressure did not produce any clear-cut chances and the push forward to score left the team exposed at the back.
This allowed further goals from Rangers as they counter attacked at every opportunity.
This week sees Round 1 of the Raleigh Cup with Thistles at home to Tamerton Foliot. Man of the match Robert Leeson.

Wash then went on to score his second, and the best goal of the game giving Thistles a well deserved 3-0 half time lead.
Second Battery Centre stepped up the pace in the second half and creating a number of good chances.

With the home side pushing further forward Thistles capitalised with Jackman prominent in some good counter attacks one of which brought a fourth goal from Smallacombe.
SBC continued to work and were eventually rewarded with a consolation goal in the last minutes of the game.
