THERE'S an opportunity to try your hand at a new skill and join one of the jewellery making workshops at the Tamar Valley Centre, just five minutes' walk from Gunnislake Train Station.
September's class explores the use of wire in jewellery making, and shows how to use different tools to shape wire to form wrapped loops, chain and clasps. Wire work bracelets takes place on Saturday, September 22, from 10.30am to 4pm.
Beaded berry jewellery will be held on Saturday, October 13, from 10.30am to 4pm. Here participants will learn a basic seed bead stitch and create lovely beaded berries. Make a necklace with a single berry pendant, or if you have a little more experience with bead stitching then learn how to attach lots together on beading wire or chain, bangle or a ring.
In November, the focus is on Christmas gifts – a hands-on class creating your own designs, starting with an introduction to the tools and basic jewellery making techniques. Choose from a variety of projects, with lots of examples for inspiration. The workshop takes place on Saturday, November 17 from 10.30am to 4pm.
Each workshop costs £45 per person, to include all materials, tools and refreshments. Please bring lunch.
