TAVISTOCK travelled to Wells for their first game of the new league season.
Playing at a higher level and suffering from a large amount of unavailability, from first string players, Tavistock utilised their squad numbers and drafted in some new and old blood into the team.
The nerves, or the results of a long journey were evident and a lack lustre start saw the visitors gave the ball away on numerous occasions and continually increased the pressure on themselves.
The lively home side scored from a short corner within the early period and a worrying result looked likely. The back line which included the youthful Cowen began to compose themselves and with the powerful efforts of Edwards, Tavistock began to turn the tide.
The two Honeys working well on the right, Lovett continually worrying the defense with his penetrating runs and the harassing of Andrews and Bellard began to see the Tavistock side create some good scoring opportunities.
Tavistock began to get on top of the game and numerous desperate clearances from the line kept Mid Somerset in front. Ollie Thomas, playing his first game in the first XI brought fresh legs into the equation and contributed to maintaining the pressure on the home defense.
The Somerset side scored their second goal, against the run of play which sealed the match.
