WINKLEIGH is to update its parish plan, in consultation with local residents.
The consultation starts with a public open day on Saturday, September 29 in the village hall.
Chair and co-ordinator Gail Flockhart said: 'We really want everyone to drop in on the open day and share their views.
'This is the beginning of a wide consultation and we want to involve everyone.
'It's a community initiative, not led by the parish council or any particular group.'
District councillor David Lausen said: 'Parish plans are the community's way to tell the district what it wants.
'With the Government's push on Localism it's more important than ever to have a clear vision. The planning system is changing, and local people should get a stronger voice.
'But to be heard, communities need an up to date plan based on wide involvement.'
Winkleigh last produced a plan in 2005, but the village population has grown substantially since then and while some issues remain the same, others have changed.
The Parish Plan Working Group hope to make the updated plan a regularly review 'living' document that will guide local decision making.
The open day takes place from 10am to 4pm.
All are welcome to come along and have their say.
