KELLY College is opening a new mixed Day House next year in response to increased demand for both day and boarding places.
It will improve the quality of the accommodation provided for all the pupils in the school, both day pupils and boarders. The number of boys and girls in the house will reflect the ratio of boys and girls at Kelly.
The new house, which is due to open in Spetember 2002, will relieve pressure on acommodation throughout the school. It will also allow a full programme of refurbishment over the coming years.
School House, Courtenay, Newton and Marwood, the four existing senior Houses, will continue to take both day pupils and boarders.
A school spokesperson said the development underlined the school's commitment to the provision of a high level of pastoral care, and quality accommodation for all of its students, whether as day pupils or borders.
'The new headmaster, Mark Steed, is delighted to be able to announce this significant improvement so early ini his headship,' said the spokesperson.
'He sees it as the first of a number of far-reaching measures that he hopes to be able to implememt whilst in charge.'
