A NEW councillor has been appointed to Calstock Parish Council but there are still three vacancies to be filled. Cllr Ricky Metters has been chosen to represent the Chilsworthy ward, following the resignation of Julie Jones.

The council will decide on who will fill the Gunnislake vacancy left by long term member Godfrey Smale next month, having received three applications from local residents. Two vacancies are currently being advertised for the Harrowbarrow ward after the resignation of Jim Flashman and Sharon Daw.

Written applications to fill these roles should be submitted to the parish clerk by Wednesday, December 30.

Mr Flashman, who is also a Cornwall councillor for the Harrowbarrow, Kelly Bray, St Dominic and St Mellion parishes, said that due to the size of the ward and the need to attend many parish meetings, he was unable to give sufficient time to his duties as a parish councillor.
