THE opening of a new extension block at Lifton Community Primary School this month has been welcomed by Keystage 2 pupils at the school.

The new building provides spacious cloakrooms and modern, well-designed toilet facilities for the pupils.

The provision of hot water, heating and good ventilation is a major improvement on the previous toilets, which dated from the 1960s, when the school was built.

The opening ceremony was performed last Friday by county, West Devon and town councillor Christine Marsh.

Headteacher Mrs Kui Holmes said the new facilities were 'very welcome' as they not only provided much-needed cloakroom space for the children, but had transformed the toilets and brought them fully up-to-date.

A really pleasant atmosphere and experience for those using them had been created, Mrs Holmes said, and the school was grateful to Devon County Council for its help in achieving the successful project.
