THE new link road between Chagford Cross on the A382 from Whiddon Down and Court Street on the Two Bridges to Princetown road is now open.

The road reduces through traffic from the busy narrow streets and tight junctions in the centre of Moretonhampstead and is relieving congestion, improving safety and air quality in the main shopping area.

The works have cost £400,000 and planning permission was granted back in December 2010 following a public consultation in July 2009. Solar powered 'cats eyes' have been used at the Chagford Cross roundabout to minimise the number of new streetlights.

Despite the poor weather this summer the works in the existing section of Betton Way were programmed around the primary school to minimise disruption to parents.
