NIGEL Hoskins from Yelverton is the new chairman of Dartmoor National Park Authority. The Devon-born Yelverton representative has lived on the edge of Dartmoor for most of his life and said it was a tremendous privilege to be elected to serve as chairman. ?Amongst the members of the authority there is a huge range and amount of skills, talent and knowledge,? he said. ?As chairman I will endeavour to help focus those assets for the benefit of the national park and its communities.? Following a naval career and appointment as clerk to the corporation at Plymouth College of Art and Design, Mr Hoskins has been a member of Dartmoor National Park Authority for two years. His interests are hillwalking, Dartmoor, home and village communities and travel. Deputy chairman for the coming year will be Maurice Retallick from Ilsington.
