I WAS disappointed to read an incorrect statement in last week's Times. On the back page, reference the bank holiday opening hours, Cllr Brian Trew commented that he visited the perimeter shops on the last bank holiday and none were open! How strange I found this, as I was personally in my shop, doors open to the elements and baskets and signs outside. Where then, I ask, did Mr Trew visit? Clearly not the East End Stores!

I try tirelessly to generate footfall to the area around my shop and it reflects badly that a councillor can make such a public faux pas.

For the record, and should anyone have been put off by the councillor's comments, I open all possible bank holidays from 10am to 4pm.
