AN evening of traditional songs is to be held at the Museum of Dartmoor Life, Okehampton next week. West Devon?s folk arts development organisation, Wren Music, and the Museum of Dartmoor Life will be presenting an evening of traditional songs and tunes, including many from Devon?s rich cultural history, on Tuesday December 11 from 7pm to 9pm. The event, called A Winter Warmer, will feature performances by folk duo Marilyn Tucker and Paul Wilson, young teenage ensemble SoX and the Okehampton Youth Chorus. A spokesman for Wren said: ?Marilyn Tucker and Paul Wilson are renowned for their strong vocal harmonies and instrumental variety. ?They founded Wren Music in 1983 to stimulate interest and participation in folk music and song ? now, over 30,000 people of all ages take part in Wren Music projects each year.? SoX and Okehampton Youth Chorus meet weekly in Okehampton for singing workshops that are designed to give children and young people the chance to find their voice, have fun with music and perform in public.
