Fifteen talented young musicians from Mount House School gave an entertaining recital at St Paul's Church in Yelverton to an audience of parishioners, parents and friends of the school, raising £130 for church funds in the process.

The boys and girls gave 33 performances, of works by composers from Sibelius and Bach to Lionel Bart and Andrew Lloyd-Webber.

Instrumental solos were played on the tuba, guitar, flute, piano, recorder, violin, trumpet, saxophone and cello, with performances by the senior ensemble.

As well as several vocal solos and a duet, the senior singers rounded off the evening with the Cat Duet by Rossini.

Outstanding performances included instrumental solos from Jamie Farrington on the tuba, Gemma Robbins playing Rutter's Chanson on the flute and Meg Hughes-Chamberlain on the Cello. The vocalist included India Lewis, Rosie Luther who sang 'Bring Him Home' and Giles Malcolm who entertained with his interpretation of 'Pick a Pocket or Two' from the Lionel Bart musical 'Oliver!'

The performance was introduced by Tim Emerson, verger of St Paul's, who is a former pupil of Mount House, and whose son attended the school in the 1990s.
