IT'S that time of year again, the sun is shining, the real ale is flowing and the live music is pumping — Tavistock Summer Solstice Music and Beer Festival has arrived.

Now in its fourth year, the festival, which runs over two days, will offer a variety of fun filled entertainment, including an excellent range of West Country ales, local cider, full bar facilities and barbecue, with locally sourced produce.

This year, festival organisers will be raising money for Tavistock Rugby Club and Bowel Cancer West, a new cancer charity based at Derriford Hospital.

Co-organiser of the Summer Solstice Steve Langsford said: 'The festival is growing from strength to strength and is becoming very popular — I would advise people to buy their tickets early!

'There is a very good live music scene in Tavistock, most of the artists performing at this year's festival regularly play locally and offer an eclectic mix of genres from punk to folk, so there is something for everyone.'

The event is on Friday, June 18 from 7pm until 1am and Saturday, June 19 from noon until 1am.

It will be held at Tavistock Rugby Club.

Friday night will feature World Cup football, England v Algeria, on the biggest screen and sound system in Tavistock, followed by live music from Stacked, Ed Lane and Rory Gilmore.

Saturday will feature live music from Jo Harris, Adam Isaac, Land of the Giants, the Sniffle Brothers, the Flies, the Normals, the Needletones and the Rock N Roll Outlaws.

Festival tickets cost £15 and can be purchased from Duke's Coffee House in Tavistock Pannier Market.
