AN 11-HOUR music day at a Tavistock public house raised £279 for the Three Peaks Challenge Group.

The Human Jukebox event was held at the Tavistock Inn on Bank Holiday Monday, starting at midday. A stream of local musicians provided the music, with some staying all day. Customers donated money in a box for music to be played, with some requests being made. Landlady Helen Coombs said the day had been 'absolutely amazing' and the pub had been packed all day.

The Three Peaks Challenge is a project involving a group of mental health service users, staff and volunteers who will be attempting the challenge in May 2010 to raise awareness of the stigma and discrimination people with mental health issues face.

They will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon on three consecutive days. The project is being organised by Rethink, the national mental health charity.

Organisers thanked everyone who had supported the event and those who had worked so hard at the inn.
