MORE than £1,700 was raised at a special concert in Tavistock Town Hall recently, organised in collaboration with town mayor Jenny Metcalf and Tavistock Musical Theatre Company. Altogether the concert, featuring songs from many of the shows staged by the company over recent years, raised £1,720 for the tsunami appeal, through ticket sales, a raffle and a collection bucket. Cllr Metcalf said she was delighted by the success of the ?superb? event, and paid tribute to the performers. She said: ?It was a wonderful evening and a gorgeous concert ? we are very lucky to have such high quality music in Tavistock.? Peter Clement, chairman of Tavistock Musical Theatre Company, said he was ?very proud? of the group?s efforts in producing such a good show in just three weeks, and thanked musical director George Terry and choreographer Patti Stott for their hard work. The company is now hard at work rehearsing for their 50th anniversary show The Mikado, which is being staged at The Wharf in October.
