YOUNG music lovers are in for a treat this month, as folk and community arts development charity Wren music is to present a summer music club in Okehampton.

The club will run for five days from Monday August 17 to Friday August 21, and will be led by Paul Wilson and Becki Driscoll.

Sessions will cater for all abilities including those with no previous experience. The music and songs have been designed to appeal to young people from eight to 18 years old.

All instruments are welcome. For those who do not have their own instruments, or who would like to try out others, Wren music will have instruments and percussion available.

A previous participant said: 'It's just like a music shop where you can pick up anything you like, and have a go.'

The sessions will provide an opportunity to learn new music, write songs and tunes, work creatively with others and make new friends.

The summer club will end with a 'Showing Sharing Show', an informal performance for parents and friends on the Friday afternoon.

The sessions will be held in the Fairplace Church Hall, Okehampton and will run from 10am to 3.30pm each day.

Packed lunches should be brought.

The fee for the whole week is £50, with a concessionary rate of £30 for children whose parents are full-time students or receiving income-related benefits.

All week fees for further children from the same family are £25 full or £15 concessions.

Daily attendance from Monday to Thursday is possible but Friday must be booked with at least one other day. Per day fees are £15 full or £10 concessions.

Daily fees for further children from the same family are £7.50 full or £5 concessions.
