THE COURTENAY Players' next production 'Murder or Mayhem?'will be produced in the Charter Hall, Okehampton, from May 23 to 25. The production consists of two one-act plays and a buffet. 'The Offence', by Diana Raffle and directed by Alan Smart, is about an amateur dramatic group meeting for a play reading. After a call from their local high-security psychiatric unit, suspicion surrounds the identity of the group's new prospective member — and that heightens to panic as members of the group begin to disappear. The second play, 'Up the Garden Path', is by Paul Beard and will be directed by Stan Stormont. A delightful comedy of characters and situation, it is set in a Cornish retirement bungalow, amid the jealous rivalries of the world of home-growers, in which wives can mysteriously disappear after destroying prize marrows . . . The production starts at 7.30pm — tickets costing £7 are available from the Fairplace Church shop in the arcade, and include the buffet and one drink.
