South West Peninsula League Okehampton Argyle 0 Plymstock United 2 THIS game was a lot closer than the scoreline reflects and considering that Argyle were beaten by Plymstock earlier in the season by six-nil, it was a good effort. Plymstock, who are currently fourth in the league, are a physical side and their tactics resulted in a first half that was riddled with free kicks, not allowing either side to dominate play. Argyle's best chances came from set pieces in the first half and Mathew Mortimer had a good effort tipped over the bar from a Chris Wills corner. Honours were even between the two sides at the interval. Straight from the restart Argyle's Steve Williams won a good header just inside his own half, and with a powerful run forced the Plymstock keeper to pull off a good save, tipping the ball over the crossbar. On 60 minutes Plymstock opened the scoring when a mix up in the Argyle defence allowed their striker a split second to poke the ball home from close range. Argyle's Ollie Bedford came on for Robert Clark on 65 minutes and looked lively down the left wing, after being out with an injury for a few weeks, but try as they did Argyle could not create any clear chances and it was Plymstock who increased their lead, firing in from 12 yards to extend their lead. Another substitution for Argyle on 80 minutes was George Pitts for the promising left back Elliot Collins, but unfortunately for George he was given his marching orders with two minutes of normal time remaining for a challenge on the Plymstock keeper. l This week Argyle are away to Budleigh Salterton, kick-off 2.45pm.
