A RECYCLING centre under threat of closure had a visit from Central Devon MP Mel Stride on June 16, who praised the work going on at the centre.
Mr Stride was shown around the Proper Job centre in Chagford by site manager Diana Dench.
The centre specialises in taking good, clean recyclable materials like wood, glass and cardboard to be recycled. It also composts organic matter.
The centre is under threat after its retrospective application to the Dartmoor National Park Authority for portable cabins at the site, has been recommended for refusal.
The authority is conducting a site visit to help guide its final decision.
Mr Stride said: 'I was very impressed with the range of recycling services that Proper Job provides, and particularly their emphasis on the reuse of items that have been discarded by others.
'This approach has clear advantages in terms of saving some of our limited resources. They are also a very important local employer and I wish them every success in the future.'
Site manager Diana Dench said: 'Proper Job is a venture that is used by a large number of people locally and I am very pleased that Mel has shown a personal interest in what we do.'
