CENTRAL Devon MP Mel Stride paid a visit to Spreyton Primary School recently, to congratulate headteacher Lois Briard and her staff on their latest Ofsted report.

The school improved its rating from satisfactory to good with their last report, an achievement made more impressive as the Government have made the criteria for achieving a good grade more difficult.

Mr Stride, who has 43 primary schools within his constituency, said: 'Spreyton's latest Ofsted report showed a real improvement in the school and it was great to spend time with the hard-working staff who earned such a positive report.

'The pupils I met were bright and polite, and it is great news for the Crediton Learning Community as a whole that the 12 primary schools within its boundaries are now all considered good or outstanding.'

Headteacher Lois Briard said: 'We are very pleased that Ofsted have recognised the improvements we've made here and we are determined to build further on this success.'

Spreyton Primary is part of the Mid-Moors Federation, which was formed in 2012 and which also includes Copplestone Primary School.
