A DEDICATED South Tawton resident has taken time to show Central Devon Mel Stride MP around one of his village's most important landmarks.
David Youle met Mr Stride at the village's monthly market and took him around the historic Church House.
The 80-year-old, who has been given the freedom of South Tawton for his tireless work in raising the funds to restore Church House, was congratulated by the MP for his efforts.
Mr Stride said: 'Seeing the results of the huge amount of work that David and his fellow villagers have put in to restore Church House was very impressive. His dedication is a true example of how communities can work together to improve our villages and towns.
'It was also very good to have the opportunity to talk to stallholders at the market and catch up with local people. The whole visit was made particularly special given the recent recognition of David's contribution.'
Mr Youle thanked Mr Stride for his support: 'It was good to see so many people at the market, which is on the second Saturday of every month, and we appreciate Mr Stride taking time out to come to our village.'
The MP's visit followed one of his surgeries which he held in a room within Church House.
