WHILE Westminster was in recess for summer, Central Devon MP Mel Stride was back on the campaign trail, meeting constituents in South Tawton.
Mr Stride said he used the summer break to 'take the pulse' of his constituents, to ensure he understood their feelings about the new Government and their concerns.
He said 'I think there is sometimes a danger that politicians spend so much time in Westminster that they lose touch with the problems and concerns that are really affecting local people.
'Knocking on people's doors and listening to them face to face is a really good way of staying connected.'
