AN MP has branded a decision by a council panel to refuse school transport for a six-year-old girl and her blind mother as 'disgusting, heartless and lacking any humanity'. Colin Breed, Liberal Democrat MP for South East Cornwall, has called on members of Cornwall County Council's Education Transport Appeals Panel to resign over the decision. Francesca Storer, from Callington, has been attending St Dominick Primary School with the assistance of the local authority, as her mother, Ann-Marie, is blind. Now the pair must fund their own way to school. Cornwall County Council said its policy was to provide free transport to all primary age children who lived more than two miles from their nearest or designated school. The council refused transport as Mrs Storer had chosen a school for Francesca which was not one designated by the Children's Services Authority. A change of school had been offered although Mrs Storer said it would still be difficult to take Francesca to school. Mr Breed said: 'I am appalled at this decision and I believe the members of the appeal panel should be ashamed of themselves and immediately resign their position. They are definitely unfit for office.'
