POLITICS was on the menu at a Christmas dinner served up in Spreyton village hall last week. Central Devon Liberal Democrats and 70 guests, including MP for Montgomeryshire, Lembit Opik, said they enjoyed a ?splendid meal in the superb modern village hall?. Many of the guests braved fierce weather conditions to attend the dinner, particularly Mr Opik who spent six hours travelling from mid Wales. Cllr Sally Morgan, the party?s prospective parliamentary candidate for Central Devon, thanked Mr Opik for going to such lengths to join them. She said: ?Lembit is always received warmly by party members. He is an excellent after dinner speaker and a great personality. He also went down well with locals at the Tom Cobley pub in the village afterwards!? Also attending the dinner were prospective candidates for Totnes and Wells, Julian Brazil and Tessa Munt.
