Duchy five Gunnislake res 7 St Austell res 5 GUNNISLAKE reserves' promotion push took another step with three points against their rivals. The visitors started brightly and opened the scoring with a screamer on five minutes. The home team pushed forward and after a flurry of chances equalised through leading scorer Andy Southcott. Wayne Moussalli, who was a constant threat for Gunnislake, scored next as he went clean through and slotted it past the keeper. Gunnislake stepped up the pace and in the next two attacks found themselves a further two goals ahead. The first was a well worked goal from Southcott after unselfish work by Moussalli and then Adam Briamacombe turning on the edge of the area to find the top corner to make it 4 - 1 at half time. St Austell came out in the second half with all guns blazing and soon pulled a goal back after a mix up in the Gunnislake area. However Gunnislake were soon awarded a penalty and extended their lead through Moussalli. Gunnislake were to score the best goal of the game when a Moussalli cross from the right was volleyed home by Southcott from 20 yards to complete his hat-trick. Now 6-2 up the home side gave recent signing Peter May a home debut and within five minutes he was on the score sheet. The visitors were to turn the game on its head in the last ten minutes finding the back of the Gunnislake net three times in quick succession to leave the hosts hanging on for three points. Man of the match was Wayne Moussalli.
