MOUNT House School girls Lucy Walliker and Emma Jackman represented Devon Girls U13 again this season.
The girls missed out on repeating last season's achievement of reaching the national quarter finals.
After wins against Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, it was Somerset who narrowly defeated them to claim top spot in the West division. Devon were then pipped to the runner-up spot.
At the U13 girls festival in Malvern last week, Devon faced the U15s side from Leinster representing Ireland as well as Warwickshire and Kent. Lucy top scored against Leinster U15s with 34 but her efforts were not quite enough as the Devon girls lost out to the older girls. However, against national champions Kent, the Devon girls were on fire chasing down 184 with 11 overs to spare in a five wicket victory with Emma clean bowling the Kent opener.
The festival ended for Devon with a tremendous game against Warwickshire which Devon, defending 142, won by two runs. Emma's bowled 2-2 against Cornwall and 2-9 against Gloucestershire with her 10 wickets costing and average of 11 runs each during the season. As well as playing cricket at Mount House under the stewardship of Sue Hammond, the girls both play club cricket for U13 boys' teams, with Lucy playing for Ivybridge and Emma playing for Whitchurch.
