A TAVISTOCK school is appealing for sponsorship from local businesses, in order to take its successful rugby players on a once-in-a-lifetime tour.

Mount House School has some of the top rugby players for their age in the South West and next year, staff plan to take a squad of 20 to play in Australia.

The boys will be based at the New South Wales Academy for Sport and will play a series of matches in and around Sydney.

John Symons, who is in charge of rugby at the school, said: ?We hope that by playing against club and school sides from the other side of the world, our students can develop their skills and start on the road that has taken Mount House old boys, such as Phil de Glanville, on to further rugby success.?

The school is holding a dinner and auction on Sunday December 14 to raise money for the trip and would like to hear from any businesses who are able to help sponsor the visit. Call 01822 612244.
