DARTMOOR Border Morris, the mixed Morris dancing side from Meavy are actively seeking a squeezebox player for their 2003 season.
Lis Richards, Foreman of the side, said: ?We would like someone who is proficient in melodeon, concertina or accordion playing and is available to learn our dance music during the winter practice season.
?He or she doesn?t have to attend every session, but must at least be able to commit themselves to some outside performances when the season begins on May 1st.?
In their successful first year, Dartmoor Border danced outside local pubs and attended many fetes and folk festivals.
The year was particularly memorable also for taking part in the Queen?s Golden Jubilee celebrations at Maristow in June and more recently at Sheepstor in August.
?If anyone would like to consider us for future events they should make arrangements as early as possible because the diary does tend to fill up quickly,? said Lis.
?One of the joys of outside performances,? she continued, ?is giving the public a chance to join in our participation dance, "Tinner?s Rabbit".
?Unfortunately, you can?t have a Morris dance without musicians ? and for this reason we would dearly like another squeezebox player.?
