MORRIS dancers from around the country will be touring North Tawton and the surrounding area this weekend for some high-energy dancing. Teams from Nottingham and Weston Super-Mare took part in a previous Morris weekend last June and enjoyed it so much, they have asked to return again this year. The event will get underway with dancing in Okehampton on Saturday, September 24, at 10.30am. During the rest of the day, the teams will drop into the Bearslake Inn, Peter Tavy and Princetown. In the evening the teams can be seen dancing at South Tawton, Spreyton and then North Tawton. There will be more dancing on Sunday, September 25, at South Zeal and the Railway Inn, North Tawton before the event draws to a close in the evening with music and singing at the Kayden House Hotel, where event organiser Steve Parker is the landlord. l IF you have ever been tempted by Morris dancing or are looking to get involved in the activity again, Lodestone Border would welcome new recruits, both musicians and dancers to join their friendly sociable group. Lodestone Border Morris practises on Tuesday nights in Horrabridge Village Hall between 8pm and 10pm. Member Brian Cunningham said: ?Border Morris is definitely not white trousers and hankies. Lodestone is an adult mixed side who dance in tatter coats, use big sticks and dance with energy and attitude!? If you are interested or want further details please contact Brian or Christine Cunningham on 01822 853856 or come and meet the group at Horrabridge Village Hall on Tuesday, October 18 when winter practice sessions begin.
