AFTER the huge success of the monthly tea dances for over 50s in Okehampton, organisers Time for Life are looking to branch out with more activity groups.

Time for Life, a community mentoring service for the over 50s in Devon, is re-establishing the 'Fun with Fabric' group.

Two new volunteer facilitators will be there to welcome and support anyone interested in sitting and sewing and chatting together for an afternoon twice a month.

The group will meet on Monday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm for a trial period of two months.

The initial dates are January 12 and 26, and February 9 and 23.

The group will meet at Castle Ham Lodge in the Willow room.

Participants are responsible for their own refreshments and there will be no charge.

Some materials will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own projects to work on.

The organisation also has two new groups in the pipeline for 2015. The first is a film club presented by Okehampton Moving Pictures.

The first trial run is on Monday, January 12 at Castle Ham Lodge's Beech room.

The film being considered is the 1984 hit Amadeus, telling the story of Mozart and how rival composer Antonio Salieri attempts to thwart him out of pride and envy.

A play reading group will meet at the Glen. For £2.50 a session participants will get the services of a facilitator offering people a part in a short play, a cup of tea and biscuit and a chance to meet and make friends with like-minded people.

The group will meet on a fortnightly basis from Friday, January 9 for an initial run of six months.
