THIS year the Yelverton Golf Club ladies section is competing in the Devon County Ladies' Golf Association's Still Cup and Sheelah Creasy Bowl competitions, as well as the Devon League.

Results so far: Sheelah Creasy bowl match v Thurlestone at home on Monday April 3 (in awful conditions) Yelverton 5 1/2, Thurlestone 1.

Devon League: Wednesday April 5 v Teign Valley away, Yelverton 7 1/2, Teign Valley 7; Tuesday April 11 v Torrington home, Yelverton 8, Torrington 6; Friday April 14 v Tiverton home Yelverton 6, Tiverton 9.

Yelverton's first Still Cup match is on Friday April 28.

Laura Eastwood (aged 16) handicap 5, was recently selected for England's junior regional squad training with Christine Langford at Bowood, during the winter of 1999/2000. Christine Langford recently recommended that she should join the U16 English girls to play in the Scottish U16 girls' open championships at Drumoige course, St Andrews.

She was in the elite team England v Scotland and Laura was one of the other three English squad members, playing to gain experience.

Laura finished second out of 58 competitors in very windy conditions with scores of 81 and 76 on April 13 and 14. 14.
