TAVISTOCK Rotary Club is delighted with a belated donation to the sponsored walk it had organised to raise money to help people all over the world, affected by natural disasters. The Rotarians, in conjunction with Cornish-based charity Shelterbox, led a sponsored walk around Burrator Reservoir in April, and raised more than £3,200 in the process. Each Shelterbox contains emergency supplies for ten people such as a tent, sleeping bags, and cooking utensils, and they have been distributed worldwide to areas affected by disaster such as floods, earthquake or tsunamis. City College Plymouth, who were ounable to take part in the event on the day promised Tavistock Rotary they would make up for their absence ? which they certainly did when this week they donated £490 to the collection. This means that altogether £3,690 has been raised ? enough for seven and ?a half? Shelterboxes.
