FORTY members of the Dartmoor Rescue Group were called out at 4am on Tuesday to search for a man missing in the Cramber Tor area of Dartmoor.

Bud Francis, controller of Tavistock DRG, said conditions were bad, with rain and thick fog.

Mr Francis said the man, who was speaking to a friend on a mobile phone, was threatening to commit suicide.

Members of DRG searched for two hours before police located the man at a Plymouth address.

Mr Francis said: ?It was very sad really. He gave a very elaborate story about the bus he?d taken out etc.

?The incident was typical of the sort of co-operation we have with the police but on this occasion, he was located off the moor.?
