A CYCLING challenge across Dartmoor to raise funds for a leukaemia charity will take place on Sunday, May 19.

This is the third year the Anthony Nolan Trust has staged a challenge cycle ride. This year's route starts and finishes at South Devon Railways in Buckfastleigh and there is a choice of either a 27-mile or a 53-mile challenge — both go to Widecombe in the Moor; the long route follows part of the Dartmoor Way to Moretonhampstead to rejoin the shorter route near Two Bridges before returning to the start.

Last year, the ride had 325 participants and this time the charity is hoping to attract more than 500 riders.

New for this year is a ten-mile beginners' route for all the family taking in the River Dart Country Park.

The charity will provide a back-up service for riders, signed route, first aid, mechanics, refreshment stops and pick-up vehicles.

The entry fee for the challenge is £10 per person in advance or £15 on the day. For further information about taking part in the event, telephone 01752 672060 or 01225 480130.
