IT?s supposed to be the most important meal of the day ? and at the Plume of Feathers in Okehampton this week there was a true breakfast bonanza for guests to tuck into.

Landlord Nigel Knight laid on the Farmhouse Breakfast after being approached by Derek Godfrey-Brown, who organises Okehampton?s thriving farmers? market.

The event coincides with the national Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which encourages use of traditional, local foods.

Breakfast guests at the Plume enjoyed fruit juice, cereals, eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, sauté potatoes and fried bread, followed by toast and marmalade and finished with a cup of tea or coffee.

Mr Godfrey-Brown said: ?It went very well, there were more than 40 people there ? I think it was enjoyed by everybody.

?The purpose was that we bought the produce from the town centre traders and other local producers. It?s local food ? you can savour the flavour, it does taste better!?

Mr Godfrey-Brown said enjoying a locally produced breakfast like this ? he has also organised similar events to promote Devon food and the annual St George?s Day breakfast ? was an event appreciated as part of the Okehampton calendar.

The St George?s Day breakfast will be held on Wednesday April 23.
